Children Phone Usage: Here’s What To Do

’Children phone usage’ is an issue that is increasingly gaining attention.

Is it possible to stop children from using a phone or touching your phone? The answer is yes and no.

First, depending on what you do with your phone as a parent, you can stop them.

For a person who hardly holds his or her phone for too long, it will be easy to stop your child from using your phone. As far as you do not hold the phone so much in the child’s presence, the child’s interest in your phone will not be much.

For someone like me, whose daily activities and work revolve around my phone – content creation, video shooting and editing on phone – it may be extremely hard to stop my children from touching my phone.

Children rely so much on observation to learn and this is one reason ‘children phone usage’ is becoming a common thing.

Every time you hold your phone and work or chat with it, your child is observing.

The moment you drop your phone, the child goes to take it and then begins to use it the way you do.

Some times they pretend they are making a call. At other times they act like they are chatting.

The annoying part, however, is when they mistakingly delete an app or something of importance in your phone.

You could get angry for as long as you can, but that does bot stop them.

The best you can do is to adopt some intentional approaches to reducing their access.

1.     Create A Unique Password

Go to your settings and then select security. Choose password and enter a password that only you will know.

Bear in mind that sometimes they will attempt to cajole you to give them the password. Stand your ground and refuse to give them.

2.      Get Them A Tablet

If you can, get them their personal tablet and download all educational videos, audios and books they need.

Also, ensure you add educational apps that will help them study different subjects.

3.      Install Apps On Your Phone

Truly, getting a good tablet for your kids could be additional expense you may not want to incur.
